Sustainability at CrowshallIIE 2024 Logo

At Crowshall, sustainability is at the core of our operations, and we are committed to making a positive impact on both the environment and our community.

After registering with Investors in Environment (iiE) in 2019, we became the first commercial poultry practice and the first 100% dedicated farm animal practice to achieve iiE Green accreditation in 2020.

This milestone was celebrated by iiE, who later published a case study showcasing Crowshall’s leadership in sustainable practices within the veterinary industry.

We have maintained this prestigious accreditation every year since, continually improving our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint.

Our Environmental Policy outlines our dedication to reducing environmental impact through responsible practices. This includes proactive measures for energy conservation, waste reduction, sustainable sourcing, and continuous improvements in our day-to-day operations.

Key highlights of the last four years include:

  • Installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers for both client and staff usage.
  • Decarbonisation of our practice fleet, with four hybrid cars and one fully electric vehicle now in operation.
  • Significant reductions in heating oil consumption, with plans to phase out oil completely by 2030.
  • Ongoing efforts to reduce laboratory single-use plastic waste, along with constant reviews of alternative methods.
  • Effective waste separation and transport strategies to maximise recycling, minimise incineration or landfill, and reduce the carbon footprint of waste removal by working with local and regional suppliers.

In addition to our environmental commitment, we are equally dedicated to our social responsibility. We have trained mental health first aiders on our team to ensure the well-being of both our staff and clients.

At Crowshall, we are proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to enhancing our sustainability and social responsibility initiatives in the years ahead.
